HOW TO FIND YOUR SCREW BARREL SIZE?

In general, screw barrels are identified by their screw and barrel sizes.

    01. Where Can I Find the Parallel Twin Screw Barrel and Single Screw Barrel Size for Extruders?

Extruder twin screw barrels and parallel twin screw barrels are generally distinguished by the outer diameters of screw threads. They are characterised by a screw L/D ratio.

Screw L/D ratio, screw diameter, D, refers to the outside diameter of screw threads. The screw’s effective length, L, is the length of the screw’s working part. The effective length is not the same as the total screw length. A length-to-diameter ratio (L/D) measures the proportion of the effective screw length to the diameter.

    02. How To Find Twin Screw Conical Barrel Size?

Twin screw barrels use the small thread out diameter and the large thread out diameter of a screw to represent the different models. An accurate quote should also include the barrel’s outer diameter.

Regarding the conical twin screw barrel, it has a specific screw barrel size, which can be found on the conical twin screw extruder model.

WHAT IS EXTRUDER SCREW BARREL SERVICE LIFE IN GENERAL?

It is possible to replace the extruder screw barrel. High quality new screw barrels have a longer service life. Plastic extruders processing high-filling plastics or recycling materials require very high-quality screw barrels. If the screw barrel wears out after high filling raw materials, then it needs to be replaced. If the barrel and screw are worn out, the gap between them is bigger than when it is new.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EXTRUDER SCREW BARREL VS INJECTION SCREW BARREL?

It is obviously different between extruder screw barrel and injection screw barrel from the appearances.

The extruder is to extrude plastic through a fixed shape extruder outlet, which is under the effect of the screw. The screw is cut after water cooling and shaping under the effect of a traction machine, which is mainly used for continuous production of products with the same cross-section, such as pipe, bar, profile, etc. It can also be used for plastic modification granulation.

An injection molding machine is to inject plastic into the mold after cooling is the product. The process is known as the injection molding process.

The structure of the two types of machine screws is different. The extruder screw thread is generally bent and narrow, while an injection molding screw barrel is required for plastic materials to flow in the mold.
