In general, screw barrels are identified by their screw and barrel sizes.
Extruder twin screw barrels and parallel twin screw barrels are generally distinguished by the outer diameters of screw threads. They are characterised by a screw L/D ratio.
Screw L/D ratio, screw diameter, D, refers to the outside diameter of screw threads. The screw’s effective length, L, is the length of the screw’s working part. The effective length is not the same as the total screw length. A length-to-diameter ratio (L/D) measures the proportion of the effective screw length to the diameter.
Twin screw barrels use the small thread out diameter and the large thread out diameter of a screw to represent the different models. An accurate quote should also include the barrel’s outer diameter.
Regarding the conical twin screw barrel, it has a specific screw barrel size, which can be found on the conical twin screw extruder model.
